CVET GmbH – Clausthaler Verfahrens- und Energietechnik GmbH – is an independent engineering consultancy for process engineering, energy engineering and exhaust air treatment. We do not start from an equipment catalogue. We start from your existing plant: we measure how it actually behaves, and we build solutions from there – solutions that show up in natural gas consumption, electricity, CO2 and operating costs.
Because we are not tied to any plant manufacturer, we assess technologies on their merits rather than on what we happen to sell.
Four capabilities, one unbroken chain
What sets us apart is that measurement, analysis and implementation are not split across four different companies:
- Measurement technology – emission and plant measurement, exhaust gas diagnostics, balancing of real operating conditions
- Process engineering – energy assessment, heat balances, operating and plant concepts
- Automation – control engineering and PLC programming (programmable logic controller, German: SPS), from control strategy through to commissioning
- Data analysis – industrial data evaluation, algorithms and artificial intelligence methods
The underlying principle has not changed since we founded the company: measure, analyse, evaluate, optimise.
Exhaust air treatment: every technology, no favourites
We work across the full range of thermal exhaust air treatment – thermal oxidation (TNV, thermische Nachverbrennung), regenerative thermal oxidation (RNV, internationally known as RTO) and catalytic oxidation (KNV, katalytische Nachverbrennung). We know the strengths, limitations and typical operating problems of each, from both research and industrial practice.
For you, that means an independent assessment of which technology suits your exhaust air stream, your emission limits and the equipment you already own – and what can still be improved about it.
Management
Karl-Heinz Dammeyer
Responsible for project management and permitting – from the notification required under German immission control law through to implementation during ongoing production.
Dr.-Ing. Olaf Neese
Responsible for process engineering. His doctoral thesis at TU Clausthal on reducing primary energy consumption in existing paint dryer systems provides the scientific foundation of our work on drying plants.
Łukasz Piech
Responsible for measurement and control technology. His experience ranges from instrumental exhaust gas analysis using FTIR spectroscopy (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy) to PLC programming of industrial plants.
One example: LAVA
LAVA – lastabhängige Volumenstromanpassung, load-dependent volume flow adjustment – shows what this approach looks like in practice. Measurement, process analysis, in-house control engineering and software development came together in a solution that matches the exhaust air volume flow to the dryer’s actual load, instead of heating permanently at full capacity.
LAVA received the Volksbank Innovation Award in 2014 and is now in operation on 65 dryers.
LAVA is an example, not the whole story. The same approach transfers to other thermal processes.
Where we come from
CVET’s technical roots lie in joint research and project work at the CUTEC Institute and TU Clausthal, shaped scientifically by Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Otto Carlowitz. Publicly funded research projects on exhaust gas treatment, nitrogen oxide reduction and energy-efficient paint drying led, in 2012, to an independent company.

Let’s talk about your plant
The first step is always the same: understanding how your plant really runs.
