Processes must be understood before they can be improved sustainably

Save energy without putting the process at risk.

Engineering consultancy for environmental and energy technology, industrial exhaust gas treatment and process optimization. We measure what your plant actually does and turn it into savings that can be verified.

Who we are

Clausthaler Verfahrens- und Energietechnik GmbH (CVET) was founded at the end of 2012 as a spin-off from the circle around the former CUTEC Institute, the Clausthal Environmental Technology Institute. Our three managing partners bring many years of experience, particularly in industrial exhaust gas cleaning, from both research and day-to-day plant operation.

Independent of plant manufacturers, we evaluate technologies by what they deliver, not by what is easy to sell.

More about us

How we work

Our focus is not the individual component but how the components interact within the production process. A dryer, a thermal oxidizer and the exhaust air ducting can each be optimized in isolation, but the decisive lever almost always lies in between – which is why we proceed in four steps:

Measure

Metrological baseline survey and process analysis. The starting point of every project: reliable data instead of design values from the plant documentation.

Evaluate and plan

Engineering and optimization – from an energy, process engineering and emissions perspective.

Implement

Support for retrofits, commissioning and acceptance testing, until the plant in regular operation does what the calculation promised.

Research

Research and development is a focus area in its own right. Several publicly funded projects have produced processes that are now running in production.

Who we work for

Automotive industry

Paint shops with dryers and thermal exhaust air treatment are among the most energy-intensive areas of a vehicle plant. This is where we have our longest hands-on experience, from the initial concept study to the optimization of plants in operation.

Plant engineering

For plant builders, we take on the independent measurement side: recording the as-is state, checking design values against actual operating values, and supporting commissioning and acceptance testing.

Pharmaceutical industry

Solvent-laden exhaust air and strict documentation requirements call for reliable measurements and traceable results. We have already delivered this for several customers in the sector, without touching the validated process.

Food industry

Drying, baking, roasting and smoking generate exhaust air that has to be cleaned, and waste heat that often goes unused. We are working in this field and are currently examining where the two can be reconciled in a sensible way.

Chemical industry

Exhaust streams of fluctuating composition challenge any exhaust air treatment system. We know the thermal and catalytic processes and assess which one suits your waste gas stream.

A practical example

With LAVA, our load-dependent volume flow adjustment, we match the exhaust air volume flow of industrial dryers to the actual load instead of permanently heating at full capacity.
