Reducing Carbon Dioxide Emissions and Operating Costs Through Load-Dependent, Continuously Variable Exhaust Air Volume Flow Adjustment on Paint Dryers
At the 6th VDI conference Emissionsminderung 2020, held on 26 and 27 May 2020 at the Maritim Hotel in Nuremberg, CVET GmbH presented the latest results on load-dependent, continuously variable exhaust air volume flow adjustment on paint dryers.
Dr.-Ing. Olaf Neese represented CVET GmbH on site and presented the results developed jointly with Dipl.-Ing. K.-H. Dammeyer and mgr inż. Łukasz Piech under the title
“Reducing Carbon Dioxide Emissions and Operating Costs Through Load-Dependent, Continuously Variable Exhaust Air Volume Flow Adjustment on Paint Dryers”.
The remaining co-authors were not present in person at the conference.
Twelve Years of Practical Experience – Almost Fifty Installations
Rapid reduction of CO₂ emissions is an urgent necessity in the face of climate change. Measures applied to existing production facilities that require no major modifications are particularly effective in this regard.
This is exactly where load-dependent, continuously variable exhaust air volume flow adjustment on paint dryers comes in — for instance in the automotive industry. The process, which began around twelve years ago as a research project, has since been implemented on nearly fifty installations.
The presentation set out the resulting findings in detail — from savings in electrical energy and natural gas, through the reduction in CO₂ emissions, to improvements in process quality and process reliability.
The paper shows how, with the LAVA process, CVET GmbH has for more than a decade been making a concrete, large-scale, field-proven contribution to the decarbonisation of industrial drying processes.
