The Car Body Process Chain: From Concept to Final Assembly; 30–31 May 2017
Lacktrocknung: Emissionsminderung und Energieeffizienz durch lastabhängige Volumenstromanpassung
The Automotive Engineering Congress 2017 took place in Nuremberg from 30 to 31 May 2017. CVET GmbH took part in the event with a poster presentation. Dr.-Ing. Olaf Neese presented the topic “Paint Drying: Emission Reduction and Energy Efficiency Through Load-Dependent Volume Flow Adjustment”.
The presentation focused on an overview of various approaches to increasing the energy efficiency of a paint dryer, together with examples and completed projects. It addressed the particular characteristics of thermally decoupling dryer heating from exhaust air treatment; the effort involved in lowering the combustion chamber temperature of a thermal oxidiser; whether the thermal oxidiser bypass can be controlled via the stack temperature; and the advantages of load-dependent volume flow adjustment as an add-on system. Real-world improvements were then demonstrated using the example of a thermal oxidiser bypass control system, along with the savings actually achieved in natural gas and electrical energy and the resulting (calculated) reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. The presentation closed by outlining further measures for improving energy efficiency, such as integrating the cooling zone.
